Four Hyde Park restaurants partake in Chicago Restaurant Week

Chicago Restaurant Week (January 24 – February 9, 2025) is a celebration of Chicago’s culinary scene. This year marks the 18th year of this beloved culinary tradition and will feature over 500 participating restaurants across the city. Each restaurant will offer a special prix fixe menu with options to support various dietary needs.

In Hyde Park, there are four notable restaurants to check out: 14 Parish and Rhum Bar, a Caribbean-style eatery; BarDavid, a Mediterranean eatery located inside the David Rubenstein Forum; Dawn A.M. Eatery, a restaurant with a mix of American and Southern classics; and Virtue Restaurant and Bar, a James Beard Award-winning restaurant with Southern American cuisine.

14 Parish and Rhum Bar

1644 E. 53rd St., Chicago

As a Caribbean-style eatery, 14 Parish and Rhum Bar is also located on 53rd Street in Hyde Park. As part of Chicago Restaurant Week, they are offering a three-course dinner for $60.

  • First course: Coconut conch chowder, house salad, or Caesar salad

  • Main course: Stuffed jumbo shrimp, lobster rasta pasta, or lamb chops

  • Dessert: Cheesecake flight or hummingbird cake

BarDavid

1201 E. 60th St., Chicago

Located inside the David Rubenstein Forum just south of the Midway Plaisance, BarDavid features a Mediterranean-style menu. As part of Chicago Restaurant Week, they are offering a three-course lunch menu for $30 and a four-course dinner for $60.

Lunch

  • First course: Avgolemono soup, richway salad, or tuna tataki

  • Main course: Short rib tartine, pesto paccheri, or ajillo shrimp

  • Dessert: Dubai chocolate bar or winter citrus pavlova

Dinner

  • First course: Harissa-cured salmon, beef tartare mille-feuille, or local lettuce salad

  • Main course: Celery root shawarma, charred octopus, or morel gnocchi

  • Dessert: Dubai chocolate bar or winter citrus pavlova

Dawn A.M. Eatery

Dawn A.M. Eatery is also owned by Racquel Fields, who owns 14 Parish and Rhum Bar. This restaurant features a mix of American and Southern classics. As part of Chicago Restaurant Week, they are offering a three-course dinner for $45.

  • First course: Smoked salmon deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, or house salad

  • Main course: Fried chicken and cornbread French toast topped, pot roast with jalapeno cheddar grits, or spaghetti and catfish

  • Dessert: Hot buttered rum cocktail or a Mississippi rhum bar

Virtue Restaurant and Bar

Virtue is run by chef Erick Williams and is a James Beard Award-winning Southern American restaurant located on 53rd Street in Hyde Park. As part of Chicago Restaurant Week, they are offering a three-course dinner for $60 and $30 optional wine pairing.

  • First course: Kale salad or green tomatoes with shrimp

  • Main course: Fish and grits or jambalaya

  • Dessert: Red velvet cake or banana pudding
