Getting Started with Claude

Please see the information below on how to request access to a Claude Enterprise account and review who is eligible at this time.

How to Activate Your Account

Claude Enterprise is now available for University of Chicago faculty, other academic appointees, postdocs, and staff. Follow these steps to request a Claude account:  

• Go to the UChicago SailPoint Portal.
• Log in with your CNetID and password.
• Follow these step-by-step instructions to claim your Claude Enterprise account. There are two versions of Claude available as part of the account activation process:
  • Claude Enterprise, the full version of the Claude platform, is not approved for use with protected health information (PHI) or research health information (RHI). PHI and RHI should never be used within the enterprise platform under any circumstance.   
  • HIPAA Claude, a more limited version of the product that has additional safeguards for sensitive health data, is available for those who work with PHI or RHI. You should request access to HIPAA Claude if you plan to use the platform to work with PHI or RHI. 
• After submitting your request, please wait one to two hours for the provisioning process to complete.
• To log in for the first time, visit the Claude website.
• Enter your CNetID@uchicago.edu email address in the email box.
• As soon as you enter the uchicago.edu portion, a button appears labeled Continue with SSO. Select this button.
• The page redirects you to UChicago's Single Sign-On page. Click Next to enter your CNet password.
• Complete two-factor authentication if prompted.
