Earlier this month, President Tom Jackiewicz and Executive Vice President Dr. Stephen Weber visited the University of Chicago Blood Donation Center—not just for a tour, but to roll up their sleeves and donate blood themselves.

Describing his experience, Mr Jackiewicz said, “It was great—I was very well taken care of.” He emphasized how easy and convenient the process was, noting, “It can’t be in a better location.”

His visit wasn’t just a one-time gesture, but a call to action: “This is an important part of our mission, and the impact is significant,” he shared. “I encourage everyone at UCM to donate blood.” Blood and platelets donated at UCM blood donation center stay here for our patients.
Dr. Weber echoed that sentiment, remarking, “It can’t be easier—or in a better location.”

Their visit underscores the critical role blood donation plays in patient care across UCM, from trauma support and surgeries to cancer treatment and chronic illness management. The Blood Donation Center is located right on campus in the DCAM, on the second floor in room 2E (down the hall from the DCAM cafeteria). The Blood Donation Center is open Monday through Friday and welcomes all eligible staff, students, and community members.
