October 2025 Release Highlights

Quick Takeaways

  • New release introduces a seamless integration with University-supported knowledge sources, the new GPT-5.0 model, and Assistant import and export capabilities

IT Services is updating the PhoenixAI service on October 14, bringing advanced features that improve both performance and usability. This release introduces a seamless integration with University-supported knowledge sources, the new GPT-5.0 model, and Assistant import and export capabilities.

New Features for Assistants

  • Knowledge Source Integration: You can create connections with UChicago Box, Google Drive, and OneDrive. After creating this connection, you will be able to create a data source for one or multiple Assistants with UChicago Box, Google Drive, and OneDrive folders. Data sources will sync automatically overnight or can be done manually. Learn how to create knowledge and data sources.

  • Data Sources Management: A dedicated screen allows you to add, remove, and share up to 5 data sources per Assistant. Sources sync automatically or manually and include only files owned by the Assistant creator.

  • Export Assistants: You can export and save a file backup of an Assistant.

  • Import Assistants:Assistants can be restored from the backup file, fully recovering settings and most types of access. All core data is validated during import, with knowledge files needing manual re-upload.

Additional Information

The update further enhances the platform with a new model, GPT-5.0. This model offers significant improvements over previous models: it is optimized for advanced coding tasks and complex reasoning, making it ideal for users with specialized needs. Users may select this alternative model via the dropdown menu and will be able to upload files and receive insights based on your questions, as well as create custom Assistants tailored to specific, localized sources of information.
