Cheesie’s Opens Two Locations on Campus

Cheesie’s, the popular Chicago grilled cheese restaurant and food truck, now has two brick-and-mortar locations on campus. Cheesie’s started in 2011 when Chris Johnston got a hankering for grilled cheese and wondered why there wasn’t anywhere that sold just grilled cheese. After all, pizza joints, some of the most popular eateries, are beloved for selling melted cheese on bread (to put it simply). Today, Cheesie’s remains family-owned and operated.
After a grand opening event on January 5, Cheesie’s is now offering unique menu items at both the Hutchinson Commons and Tiffin Café within I-House. Each location offers unique and rotating menu items exclusive to our campus. Cheesie’s at I-House has added international flavors to both their breakfast and dinner menus, providing a culinary journey across several cultures. Head over for breakfast to build your own burrito, grab an egg sandwich, fried beignets, or a parfait. Stop by for dinner to try cevaps, pasta, tacos, fried rice, and more. Access to Tiffin Café may be limited because it's in a residential common.
Meanwhile, Cheesie’s at Hutch showcases menu items that are more aligned with their original food truck offerings including a smash burger, OG grilled cheese, the Balboa, the Tenderizer, fried cheese curds, and more.

Cheesie’s takes pride in preparing a majority of their menu items from scratch. This includes their renowned tomato soup dip (perfectly paired with the OG grilled cheese), homemade sauces, fried beignets, and the same freshly made pizza crusts from our dining commons.
We warmly welcome Cheesie’s as a new partner on campus. Head over to Hutch and I-House to explore the new menus and find a new flavor. You can also order in advance through the GrubHub app.
