Q: What do you enjoy the most about your work?
Even though the world is becoming increasingly dystopian, there are many people working fervently to make the world a better place. As part of Harris, I get a chance to interact with, bring together, and positively nudge global policy shapers—the conversations and outcomes are worth everything. Also, the pride of being associated with my alma mater—I am a Harris alumna.
Q: What is your favorite lunch spot when you’re at work?
The Office Pantry. I always carry my lunch and the pantry is well stocked with pickles, chips, Maggie, sauces, and sometimes even desserts – great add-ons!!
Q: What is one thing about Delhi that you would like someone who has never visited to know?
Delhi has a lot of Sadans (societies) that celebrate the rich and diverse culture of each State within India, by celebrating festivals, art performances, and the sale of food, clothing, and artifacts from a particular state. So, even if you are not able to travel to each State on your next visit, you can still enjoy their cuisine and art in Delhi itself.
Q: What is one thing – cultural, social, economic, or political – that everyone is talking about in Delhi?
The 2024 General Elections. What’s the capital without some politics? Everyone has an opinion about which party should field which candidates, pre-poll, and post-poll alliances, and all the drama in between. In 2019, 67% of the 912 million eligible voters cast their vote. Let’s see what happens this time around.
Q: How does your role interact with UChicago’s main campus in Hyde Park?
As part of the wonderful Student Recruitment and Global Outreach (SRGO) team led by Ranjan Daniels, I get a chance to contribute to the most diverse and passionate class of policy leaders from South Asia, Europe, Oceania, Africa and Canada at Harris every year. The ice breakers at the start of every meeting, discussions across teams on the popular read Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men, and leadership updates help us keep connected to the main campus.
