Gigi started her career at the UChicago Campus in Hong Kong in the fall of 2019, initially serving as the manager for the Study Abroad program in Hong Kong. But, with the global pandemic closing the campus, her work scope has now expanded to anything related to students, including the production of a podcast series, The Course, and—in collaboration with her colleagues—the creation of various webinars featuring UChicago's faculty members. She also supports many in-person events and provides on-site heritage tours.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?
Interacting with students and seeing them learn, grow, and mature through various experiences, especially through international education opportunities.
Q: What is your favorite lunch spot when you’re at work?
A packed lunch from home with the billion-dollar view at the Student Lounge on Campus.
Q: What is your commute like?
A twenty-minute bus ride on a double-deck bus.
Q: What is one thing about Hong Kong that the average tourist/visitor wouldn’t know?
There is a personalized vehicle registration marks scheme in Hong Kong, which means you will find lots of interesting car plates in Hong Kong.
Q: What is one thing – cultural, social, economic, or political – that everyone is talking about in Hong Kong?
Art Basel took place last week, and the Hong Kong Sevens started this week. Hong Kong has a lot of exciting things happening every week, be it arts, sports, or music!
