A Letter from the President

Our staff members make up an integral part of the mosaic of people, perspectives, and inspiring ideas that is the University of Chicago community. I am grateful to these colleagues for all they do to support and advance our collective efforts, and to create an environment in which we can all do our best work.

Paul Alivisatos

Dear Colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to be able to recognize the contributions and commitment of our longest serving staff members. These contributions form an essential part of the fabric of the University community and bring value and strength to our operations.

Here at the University of Chicago, we empower individuals to challenge conventional thinking in pursuit of original ideas; to work toward solutions for the world’s biggest challenges; to recognize that growing knowledge is a lifelong pursuit. Our students develop critical skills, test their ideas with UChicago scholars, and go on to become the next generation of leaders in academia, industry, nonprofits, and government. The expertise of our staff members is critical to this mission and supports the University’s highest aspirations.

Our University culture is defined and enriched by a multitude of diverse viewpoints. Our staff members make up an integral part of the mosaic of people, perspectives, and inspiring ideas that is the University of Chicago community. I am grateful to these colleagues for all they do to support and advance our collective efforts, and to create an environment in which we can all do our best work.

The individuals we celebrate at the annual Alice W. Chandler Staff Service Recognition Ceremony have clearly demonstrated their commitment to the University, their colleagues, and the many communities of which we are part. I want to thank our staff for their many years of service, and for contributing to the University of Chicago as a place that has an extraordinary impact on the world.
