Community Shred Fest
In honor of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the University of Chicago’s IT Services and Biological Sciences Department is teaming up with the Office of Sustainability, Facilities Services, and R4 Services to bring you the Fall Shred Fest on October 11! This event is free and open to all faculty, staff, students, and local community members.

Bring your unwanted documents and e-waste for safe and secure destruction. Our expert information security team is eager to answer your questions and share insider tips to protect your digital life.
Items to Bring for Safe Destruction:

Paper records and documents (e.g., old bank statements, tax returns, bills, receipts, outdated medical records)

Only loose documents can be shredded. Please remove all paper clips, staples, or binders before you arrive.

Personal hard drives and thumb drives

E-waste (view a list of accepted e-waste items)
Note: We will be collecting University of Chicago department-owned hard drives during this event.
Paper documents will be shredded onsite. E-waste and personal hard drives will be collected and recycled or shredded offsite.
