Private Business Use

The University has an obligation to report Private Business Use (PBU) of its facilities to the IRS every year. Please consult with the Treasury Department prior to determining space usage that may involve PBU. PBU may exist through leases, management contracts, short-term rentals, sponsored research agreements, and other use by non-University users or for non-exempt purposes. A small percentage of PBU is allowed, and certain exceptions may apply. The University’s Treasury Department collects record of PBU through a questionnaire.
