Chart of Accounts Resources

Chart of Accounts Resources

The University of Chicago is now using Oracle Cloud ERP a new Chart of Accounts (COA) has replaced the Financial Accounting System (FAS) account numbers at the University of Chicago. The new COA structure is the organizing system for the University’s financial accounts in the general ledger. In addition, the University uses project cost collections segments known as POETAF (Project, Organization, Expenditure Type, Task, Award, and Funding Source) to track financial transactions for University research, individual awards and discretionary funds, capital projects, and  clinical research studies.

Interactive Mapping Tool

The FST team has developed an interactive tool that allows users to look up previous FAS account numbers to visualize a potential translation from 10-digit FAS account to a multi-segment COA and POETAF string. The outputs of the COA Mapping Tool should not be used as the source of truth to transact in Oracle. Review the individual segments within Oracle to ensure your COA segments are accurate.

If you need help using the mapping tool, detailed instructions are available.
