Orbit Report Enhancements

This page provides the most current information available about new Orbit reports in development and enhancements to Orbit reports.

Have a question about an Oracle report? Submit an Orbit Report Enhancement and Creation Request. Requests are evaluated by the reporting prioritization committee monthly.

Navigating the Content on this Page

  • Reports are listed chronologically by their expected availability, followed by completed reports listed by deployment date, dating back approximately 3 months.

  • Report summaries provide the report’s intended audience(s), location in Orbit, its current status in the development process, a description of the report or improvement, and an estimated date of its availability, if applicable.

  • Please note that expected availability dates are tentative and subject to change.

PPM Monthly Balance Report (New Report)

  • Intended Audience: Award and Project Personnel

  • Location: TBD

  • Status: Testing

  • Estimated Availability Date: July 2025

  • Description: Provides the project balance information and includes fields such as award information, sponsor information (primary, flow through, originating), budget information, balance and expense information (direct, indirect), cost share information, encumbrance information, etc.

UC DW - GL Fund Balance – Snapshot (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Entity and Organizational Financial Managers, Central Finance

  • Location: Orbit > General Ledger

  • Status: Build

  • Estimated Availability Date: July 2025

  • Description: Added Program, Activity, and Site fields to the UC DW - GL Fund Balance - Snapshot field

COA Hierarchies (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: All Orbit Users

  • Location: Orbit > Public

  • Status: Testing

  • Estimated Availability Date: August 2025

  • Description: Adds the EPM Account, EPM Fund, EPM Purpose, and EPM Affiliate hierarchies for available reference since the Unit Financial Dashboards contains data structured in EPM format.

Capital Projects Dashboards (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Capital Projects Users

  • Location: Orbit > Capital Project Management Dashboard

  • Status: Awaiting Deployment

  • Estimated Availability Date: June 2025

  • Description: Adds a filter for Entity for all the capital dashboards

Various (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: All Orbit users

  • Status: Ongoing

  • Description: Adds CNET ID to the lists of values for all person-based filters

Year-to-Date Actuals and Rest-of-Year Estimates vs. Budget (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Entity and Organizational Financial Managers, Central Finance

  • Location: Orbit > Unit Financials Dashboards

  • Status: In Development

  • Estimated Availability Date: TBD

  • Description: A new tab within the report will provide information attributed to individual chart of account strings instead of just by accounts. This addition will provide users a more granular view to see parsed out information for each COA string quickly.

  • Description: Provides the ability for users to schedule reports.

Spend Trend (New Report)

  • Intended Audience: Entity and Organizational Financial Managers, Central Finance

  • Location: Orbit > Unit Financials Dashboards

  • Status: Complete, Deployed June 17, 2025

  • Description: Accompanies the forecasts that already are included in the Unit Financials Year-to-Date Actuals and Rest of Year Estimates vs. Budget report. This new report displays a rest-of-year (ROY) estimate based on year-to-date spending and prior year trends, but otherwise it will mirror the Unit Financials Year-to-Date Actuals and ROY Estimates vs. Budget report.

Award Details Dashboard (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Award and Project Personnel

  • Location: Orbit > Grants Monthly Ledgers

  • Status: Complete, Deployed June 10, 2025

  • Description: Added Project Organization, Project Entity (entity the organization belongs to), and AURA Award Number as report filters. Reorganized dashboard columns so they are more intuitive, with like fields grouped

Orbit Data Access Report and Security Roles Report (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: All Orbit users

  • Location: Orbit > Security and Project Team Member Reports

  • Status: Complete, Deployed June 3, 2025

  • Description: Added a column and a filter in the report to indicate if the user is active

IADF - GL Fund Transfer (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: IADF Personnel

  • Location: Orbit > IADF Management Dashboard

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 27, 2025

  • Description: Added an IADF (Funding) Award Entity filter into the IADF – GL Fund Transfer report

PI - Encumbrance Detail (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Award and Project Personnel

  • Location: Orbit > Sponsored Programs PI Dashboard

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 25, 2025

  • Description: Adds the supplier field for easy reference.

Expenditure Line Level Details (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: General Accounting (also Entity Financial Managers, Organization Financial Managers, and Central Finance)

  • Location: Orbit > Unit Financials Dashboards

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 25, 2025

  • Description: Added the filters Fiscal Period From and Fiscal Period To to both the GL tab and the PPM tab to allow a quicker option for filtering by time period.

Standing PO & PO Inquiry Dashboard (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Procurement

  • Location: Orbit > Procurement Management Dashboard

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 25, 2025

  • Description: Consolidated the PO Inquiry report and the Standing PO inquiry report, with the added improvement of additional fields and filters, including PO Description, Remaining Balance, Closed Date, Effective Start Date, Previous PO, Requester, etc.

Invoice Approval Details (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Payables Personnel

  • Location: Orbit > Payables Management Dashboard > Drilldown Reports

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 25, 2025

  • Description: Added the Comments/Details field and replaces the generic approver with names, allowing users to see the comments entered for approval action and the person associated with the approval action.

Requisition Inquiry Report (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Procurement

  • Location: Orbit > Procurement Management Dashboard

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 22, 2025

  • Description: Added a new field for Requisition Inquiry report

High-Level Summary IADF Central User Dashboard (New Report)

  • Intended Audience: IADF Personnel

  • Location: Orbit > IADF Management Dashboard

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 21, 2025

  • Description: A high-level summary regarding IADF (individual awards and discretionary funds) that will be used for management decision-making and information.

Grants Ledger (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Award and Project Personnel, External Auditors

  • Location: Orbit > Grants Monthly Ledgers

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 15, 2025

  • Description: Added the indirect cost base in the Project Details (e.g. total direct costs, modified total direct costs, also known as TDC and MTDC, respectively) and the Project Organization, providing additional context to the report. Also separates the cost share of the internal funding source budget and costs from the sponsor-funded budget to provide better clarification of budgets.

Expenditure Line Level Details (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Award and Project Personnel, Entity and Organizational Financial Managers, Central Finance

  • Location: Orbit > Unit Financials Dashboards

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 15, 2025

  • Description: An addition to the PPM tab that provides an Expenditure Item Date Between filter and a GL Accounting Date Between filter to allow users to search by either expenditure date ranges or the GL accounting date ranges. Added the Line Description field to the PPM tab to help identify the line-item description and added the Project Organization field and the Task field to the PPM tab to provide additional context to each line item.

Year-to-Date Year Over Year Comparison, Year-to-Date Actuals and Rest of Year Estimates vs. Budget, Month Actuals vs. Budget (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Entity and Organizational Financial Managers, Central Finance

  • Location: Orbit > Unit Financials Dashboards

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 13, 2025

  • Description: Added drill-down capabilities to three dashboards, allowing users to see line-level detail information.

Month Actuals vs. Budget (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Entity and Organizational Financial Managers, Central Finance

  • Location: Orbit > Unit Financials Dashboards

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 13, 2025

  • Description: Added a field for prior fiscal actuals to allow comparison to the year-to-date actuals.

Year-to-Date Actuals and Rest-of-Year Estimates vs. Budget (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: Entity and Organizational Financial Managers, Central Finance

  • Location: Orbit > Unit Financials Dashboards

  • Description: Added a field for prior fiscal actuals to allow comparison to the year-to-date actuals.

GL Journal Details (Report Enhancement)

  • Intended Audience: General Accounting

  • Location: Orbit > General Ledger

  • Status: Complete, Deployed May 1, 2025

  • Description: Changes the Fiscal Period filter format to YYYY-MM to allow for chronological order of the fiscal periods.
